Lab Technician

Lab Solutions has an immediate need for a Shift Lab Technician to work in a malt/cereals lab.

The position is very much a hands-on role with daily direct involvement with production performance and quality standards.

Key Tasks:

• Analysis of malt and cereal products.
• Following Company/Industry recognised methods.
• Collecting, preparing and testing samples.
• Recording and presentation of results to internal/external customers of the laboratory.
• Ensuring high cleaning and housekeeping standards are met and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Carry out routine quality control testing of product and raw material.

• Responsible for reporting results and any day to day issues/incidents to relevant management regarding health and safety, food and feed safety and improvement ideas within the business in a timely manner
• Prioritising workload in order to meet production deadlines.
• Actively promote a high level of adherence to quality specifications while maintaining a ‘clean as you go’ policy in all laboratory areas to maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
• Ensure all instruments used within the laboratory are fit for purpose, calibrated and properly maintained.
• Participate in sensory works and carry out tasting of product, liaise and coach other departments in line with standard tasting methods.

The ideal candidate will have proven lab experience with a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills.

The lab running hours are 6.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday and 6.00am – 2.00pm on Weekends and the working day equates to 8 hours.
